Resumen
Take one true sentence and write it six times, for a nine year old, a government minister, a nervous customer, a close friend, a coroner and a crowd. Six pieces of writing come out, and only the facts they share are the same. That variable, the thing that changed while the content stayed put, is what AO4 is actually measuring, and it is worth more marks in this qualification than anything else.
This note treats style as a set of controls you move on purpose rather than a mood you happen to be in. You will learn why tone and register are two dials and not one, which six features of a sentence actually change when the reader changes, what each purpose verb demands before it is satisfied, and how to catch the register drift that quietly costs strong candidates marks in the second half of every answer.
