How Did The Allies Achieve Victory Over The Axis Powers?
Resumen
By 1942 the Axis powers controlled an empire stretching from the Atlantic coast of France to the islands of the Pacific. Three years later both Germany and Japan lay in ruins and under occupation. How did the Allies turn near defeat into total victory? The answer is not a single battle or weapon but a combination of forces: the overreach of the Axis, the staggering manpower of the Soviet Union, the industrial might of the United States, and the cooperation of allies who, between them, could fight everywhere at once.
This lesson follows the Allied path to victory, from the advance through Italy and the collapse of Germany in 1945 to the defeat of Japan and the dropping of the atomic bombs, and then asks the question Cambridge cares about most: which factor mattered most? Learning to weigh these reasons against each other, and to reach a justified judgement, is exactly the skill the highest marks demand.
