Structured Programming
Übersicht
Two programs do the same job. One is nine hundred lines in a single block, with a handful of variables that anything can change and a control flow that jumps forwards and backwards. The other is thirty named blocks of thirty lines, each one handed exactly what it needs and handing back exactly what it produced. Both work today. Only one of them can be changed next year by somebody who did not write it.
That difference is what this topic is about. The structured approach is not a language feature or a syntax rule; it is a way of building programs, and the specification names its parts precisely: modularised programming, clear and well documented interfaces made of local variables and parameters, and return values. This lesson describes each of those, explains the advantages the approach brings, and shows what the alternative actually looks like, because the advantages are hard to feel until you have seen the problem they solve.
