States Of Matter

Everything around you, from the water in your glass to the air you breathe and the phone in your hand, exists as a solid, a liquid or a gas. The difference comes down to how particles are arranged, how much energy they carry, and how freely they can move.
In this lesson you will explore the particle model that explains each state, trace the energy changes behind melting, boiling, evaporation and sublimation, and see how diffusion and solubility experiments provide direct evidence for tiny, moving particles. These ideas underpin every reaction you will study later in the course.
