Moving Image: Film, Video And Animation
Übersicht
A photograph gives the viewer as long as they want and lets them look wherever they like. A moving image takes both of those away. It decides how long each thing is on screen, in what order, and what the viewer hears while they see it. That is an enormous amount of power handed to the person who makes it, and an enormous amount of responsibility to use it well.
This note is about the fourth dimension. It covers shot types and the grammar of cutting, the storyboard and the script as planning tools the specification names, the discipline of holding a shot, sound as the half of film that students forget, stop-motion and hand-made animation, and how a time-based work is submitted and assessed on paper sheets. A phone will do all of it.
