Developing
Übersicht
A chosen proposal is rarely ready to make. Developing is the stage where a promising idea is tested, refined and turned into a fully worked-out, buildable solution. Through modelling, both physical and virtual, the designer checks that the idea actually works, irons out problems, and nails down the exact form, materials and methods of construction. By the end of development the design should be detailed enough that someone else could make it.
This note covers how to explore the technical and functional aspects of a solution through modelling, how to communicate the main features of the developed design, how to specify form, materials and construction methods precisely, how to consider the whole product life cycle, and how to evaluate the developed solution against the specification to confirm or improve its fitness for purpose.
Ziele
- explore technical and functional aspects of the proposed solution through physical and/or virtual modelling
- communicate the main features/aspects of the proposed solution
- specify details of form, materials and construction/production methods
- consider product life cycle in the design of their proposed solution
- evaluate the proposed solution with reference to the specification to determine fitness for purpose and if necessary, develop the proposed solution further.
